Dear Newcomer,
Since 1970, Newcomers Club of Marco Island, Inc. has welcomed over 5,000 women from all over the world to our tropical paradise. The objective of our club is to foster friendships for life through a wide range of enjoyable social activities.
The organization’s diverse undertakings include our luncheons, the second Wednesday of each month at the Marco Island Yacht Club, where the mingling of members is enriched by entertaining programs ranging from fashion shows to presentations by local experts. Twenty-six special interest or mini clubs unite members with a common pastime. These groups include: Arts & Entertainment, Artists Café, Cooking, Creative Writing, Dinner Bunch, Dinner Club, Book Club, Bridge, Canasta, Girls’ Night Out, Golf, Knitting & Stitchery, Lunch Bunch, Mahjongg, Philosopher’s Café, Pinochle, and Wine & Dine. To assure that there is indeed something for everyone, special interest groups or A&E mini clubs may be added upon approval by the Board of Directors.
During the ‘In-Season‘, our Special Events Committee schedules, for all interested members, excursions to museums and the like, trips to shopping venues, the theatre, and our annual Spring Fling Dance. Additionally, the holidays come alive with our very special Holiday Luncheon, an always outstanding Holiday Ball, and participation in the Christmas Island Style Parade which has garnered us many awards, including “Best in Parade”.
Much of the success of Newcomers through the years has come from the dedication of our many talented volunteers. It is with great pride in our organization that I encourage all to become actively involved both on the Board, non Board Volunteering and with special interest groups & mini clubs. Together, we can assure “Friends today, friends for life”.
Sincerely,
Rachel DeHanas,
President 2011-2012
